AP Biology 🧬 students worked on pipetting skills to go with our biotech unit. They managed microliter volumes and successfully pipetted the rainbow 🌈!

Students in AP English Literature & Composition went on an outdoor excursion to draft literary field notes. As they are currently reading Where the Crawdads Sing, they practiced merging objective scientific observations with lyrical subjective reflections to create short, stylized passages of eco-fiction in an effort to better understand the author's voice in the novel.

We're hiring. Do you know an amazing high school PE teacher? Send them our way!

Thanks for making our book fair a smashing success! I know some of the older kids were disappointed that I couldn't get more copies of a few favorites. If you'd like to order online here's the link! It was really fun to see the kids so excited about books! https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/northcarolinaleadershipacad

Thank you Fritzsche family! We love sweet treats.

The NCLA High School Quiz Bowl team finished their season in the 2025 NCASA Virtual Quiz Bowl League in second place in the Major League Division. They played virtual matches over Zoom against teams all over the state including Chapel Hill High School (1st) the North Carolina School of Science and Math (3rd). Each match consisted of two fast-paced rounds of 20 toss-up questions with up to 60 possible bonus questions covering math, literature, history, politics, science, geography, sports, music, etcetera. Shout out to Henry Hartzell, Caroline Sweat, Wenda McLaurin, Finley Horney, Daniel Fritzsche, and Abigail Nelson who played 5 tough weeks of academic competition (even including over Fall Break)!

It takes a LOT of people to make our Drive of Honor event happen. Thank you to these "moonlighters" who made sure our gym floor was down and ready to go!

On this Veterans Day, our National Honor Society students chose to honor those who have served by serving others. Many veterans in our region quietly face food insecurity, so our students spent the afternoon at Second Harvest Food Bank, packaging 2,800 pounds of food to support individuals and families in need.
Reminder that NHS is hosting a Food Drive beginning tomorrow, November 12 to fill the gap for families in our community! Donation boxes will be in all three buildings.

Thank you for the yummy lunch Calhoun Family!

Congratulations to our Middle School Students of the Month for October! You are great Leaders in our school and we are so proud of you! Cora Plum (6th Grade) - Leland Miller (7th Grade) - Levi Idol (8th Grade)
