It was a good opening week for NCLA Middle School Athletics. The Girls and Boys Basketball Teams both defeated High Point Christian. The Girls won in strong fashion, 46-3, while the Boys went back and forth with a tough HPC team winning 42-40 in the last few seconds. The Wrestling Team took to the mat, defeating Thomasville Middle School 63-27. Way to go Falcons!!!

Thrilling evening at Oak Grove High School as our North Carolina Leadership Academy varsity wrestling team took on Parkland and Glenn High School! Four teams, one intense competition – our students showed exceptional skill and sportsmanship on the mat. 🤼♂️

The AP School Honor Roll award is based on the following metrics in the current Senior class:
* College Culture: % of students who take 1 AP course before graduating
* College affordability: % of students who earn a score of a 3 on at least 1 AP exam
*College optimization: % of students who take a total of 5 AP courses, with at least 1 taken in 9th or 10th grade

Congratulations to Mrs. Tucker and Mrs. Hartzell for winning the Bright Ideas Education Grants. Both of our winners are multiple year winners.
Mrs. Hartzell's grant award will go toward several colorimeters which will be able to be used by the biology and chemistry department. These colorimeters can directly plug into student Chromebooks and will generate spreadsheet data and graph quantitative data. Colorimeters allow for the quantification of many experiments including Beer's Law, concentrations of unknown solutions, and studying changes in concentration over time for experiments with a color product.
Mrs. Tucker's grant this year will be used to acquire a valuable curriculum aimed at guiding students through the process of crafting their personal statements for college applications. The previous grant was instrumental in launching the Ruling Our Experiences (ROX) program for our middle school girls last year. The impact was wonderful, and this year, all 7th-grade girls have the opportunity to participate in the program with Ms. Tucker and Ms. Kersey.
Thank you for your dedication to empowering our students!

Happy Thanksgiving to our Falcon Families. We are thankful for each and every one of you.

The NCLA Pep Band was in cities to perform at the High Point Holiday Party this past Saturday! They performed some classic Holiday Hits.
